Craigslist, WHAT?!?

From time to time I like to check the missed connections on Craigslist. A guilty pleasure which GB got me on a while ago. Well, today while relaxing on the couch after a good workout, I decided to meander on over to see what's there. To my surprise, my name was calling to me, with a title that also rang a bell. The only thing that just doesn't click is the glasses part. Which in turn makes me ask.... Why no location given? No time for when it happened? Heck, even a description of something at least one of the two was wearing/looked like? It seems to be the trend with people's missed connections.... lack of detail. Why? If a 'missed connection' has happened, wouldn't you want to fill it with everything possible? I think I would. But then again, I'm more the type to just read about others. So I ask.... GB, what would you do?

Beatrice. But everyone calls you B. - m4w - 30 (Somewhere in Portland.)

I met you the other night. I asked what your name was. You said it was Beatrice. But that everyone just called you B.

You had glasses framing a beautiful face. I should have said more, but I'm stupid.

I'm stupid, yes. And also hoping you read craigslist.

NERDS!

dMob. Lucky Lab. Designers. Mingling? Nah, we just like to hang out.... And some like to talk about the new Star Trek movie, while others like to film it.

W+K12 Weekend

This past weekend, I was invited to hang out at the famed Wieden + Kennedy for lots of mingling and interviewing in the hopes of being one of the chosen ones into their program, W+K12. Can I just say it fuckin' rocked like no other. Seriously, I had the time of my life, and can't believe I was there. Man, do I want it even more now.

Sunday night was the start to the 3 day long event, where it was like I was on a blind date with 30+ others at a local bar. At first intimidating, and then quite enjoyable. I also might ad that before the event started, I went to dinner with KH, her sister, her brother and their mother at Piazza Italia. Gnocchi, I love you! Seriously, how can you go wrong with pasta, potatoes and some form of sauce? Dinner ended a little early, and I had about 20 min. to go, so I walk around Whole Foods to kill some time. Check out what I found..... Oat Milk! Now I know to some, this is no big deal, but for me, it could be a little piece of heaven.... Well, that is if there had been a chocolate one. While in London I fell in love with a drink called Oatly. It was amazing (the chocolate one anyway), and I had always hoped that some day, if lucky, it would reach the U.S. Man do the swiss know how to alternative milk.

After Whole Foods I headed across the street to the bar where the first event was being held. I was still too early, so I told the bar tender that I would go for a quick walk around the block and be back. About a minute into my block walk..... CREEPER!!!! He came out of nowhere, from behind, and started talking. He asked where I was going, I freaked, looked at a piece of paper, acting like I had directions to get somewhere, and then fled across the street as fast as I could. Which in turn prompted him to yell, " Let me give you a pointer, don't be so rude". Rude? FUCK NO! My instinct told me that if I would have went any further away from the bar, that something bad would happen, and shit, there was no way I was going to be one of those girls who later reported having a bad feeling before something bad happened and chose to ignore it. Anyways, right when I got back to the bar, they noticed I had returned quickly and asked if I wanted anything. I told them some creeper was following me, which I have to say became a lurker as well, as he had turned around and followed me walking right past the bar. So not cool knowing that I was being stalked as a piece of prey.

O.k., but besides that, I had a radical time. Each 12 finalist had a 'parent' 12er. I lucked out and got Will, the Brit. We're both graphic designers who like London and the font Gil Sans. Will got me a gift of his favorite UK band, The Futureheads, and a US comic. I liked his musical choice and would recommend everyone check them out. He even made 12 logo wrapping paper.

Monday was intense. 17 hours of mingling, interviewing and baring it up. All good and fun mind you. Will was a phenomenal host, making sure I was at each 15 minute long interview on time for 4 hours straight. Go him! I met some quality people and fell even more in love with the place. I adore the Bird's Nest, a super cool office space located on the 6th floor, with casing in twings and a stellar rock couch made out of felt and such. Unfortunately, hardly any photos were taken that day, including the Bird's Nest. I was to busy taking it all to even think about it. I did manage to take 4 photos.... 3 of the thumb tac 'Fail Harder' wall which was created by W+K12.4, and 1 of current 12er, Rob. He liked to take renegade photos of us (especially on Sunday night), so I thought it was only fair that I take one in return.

This is Rob. He's a current 12er and a smooth talker. Watch out ladies!

This thing is massive. And I was told 12.4 did it all in one night. Can you spot the only red pin?

This Is It

So, today's the day of a very important thing.... The beginning of a three day interview process for what could be the biggest break career wise for me. I'm doing o.k. Slept in more than I would have liked, but figured it was o.k. as the next few days I will be waking up at the crack ass of dawn. My back's a little tense, o.k., a lot tense, but that does tend to happen more often than not. I keep stress/all my emotions/feelings in my back and calves (learned that while having acupuncture years ago). It will pass though.

Mainly, I'm just stoked to see who's there. Tonight's event is mingling with the competition. It will be interesting to see what other types I have been grouped with, as I'm quite curious at this point in time. Besides the event tonight, I'm also excited to see KH, as she is letting me crash at her pad in NW. She's a stellar women with sex running through her veins. I used to say if I had just the amount of sex appeal in her pinky finger, that I would be doing 100 times better. Yes, she is that cool.

Oh, and I wanted to share one of my new favorite feel good songs, Open Happiness. It's actually a song for a Coke ad, but I don't care, I like it anyways. Enjoy!
